He sat down next to her.
She gave him a sad smile

She wanted to break down in his arms
but he wasn't hers. not anymore.

He spoke softly

Can I ask you something?

She spoke softer

He leaned in and whispered in her ear

There was pain in his voice, a fragility he only showed her

There was nothing to think about. the anwer was clear as day
yet it came out as a strangled whisper

She couldn't look him in the eye. fearing what she might find hidden there

He didn't speak. she couldn't find the courage to look up to him

suddenly his hand was on her cheek, brushing the hair from her face

What she wants more than anything. but she's afraid

He glances to see if they are watching

Then his lips are on hers, he's kissing her and she's drowning
tears are streaming down her cheeks, she's falling and he's catching her

They break apart. and the tears don't stop

He holds her tight against him

She knows she'll never make it without him

He drops a soft kiss on her forehead

She pulls away from him, trying to let him go
